TL;DR
- Coplay stays up and running.
- Unity MCP remains free and open source.
- Aura will be the first AI assistant for both Unity and Unreal Engine. Powered by Coplay tech, Aura for Unity launches Thursday, May 14, 2026.
In March 2026, Coplay was acquired by Ramen, the creators of Aura, the top AI assistant for Unreal Engine developers. For more backstory on the acquisition, see here: https://coplay.dev/blog/ramen-acquires-coplay.
Since then, the Aura and Coplay team have been working together on what comes next.
What's next for Coplay
Coplay will stay up and running as a legacy product. We will keep you updated if things change. Unity MCP will also remain free, open source, and MIT-licensed. If you're happy where you are, nothing needs to change.
What's new

Our mission is simple: to build the best AI assistant for game developers so they can ship their wildest dreams.
We're integrating Coplay tech directly into Aura, making Aura the first AI assistant available for both Unity and Unreal Engine. Aura for Unity is officially launching on May 14, 2026.
Aura for Unity is the successor to Coplay, and all work for Unity developers will continue there.
One Aura subscription gets you both Unity and Unreal Engine support. There's a 2-week trial with $40 in free credit, and larger plans are available if you need more headroom: https://www.tryaura.dev/about.
We're hosting an Ask Me Anything (AMA) in the Coplay Discord on Friday, May 15. Come meet the Aura team and ask anything. You can submit questions now if you want to get a head start.
